Types of Plastic-Grit
Standard and Specialized Mesh Sizes
PLASTI-GRIT is manufactured in 5 major hardness types and 5 standard mesh sizes with specialty sizes available on request.
TYPE 1: Polyester
3 MOH Hardness, softest type
Selected applications: Electronics: light deflashing and deburring of encapsulated circuits. Soft metals and fiberglass: paint, primer and contamination stripping.
TYPE II: Urea
3.5 MOH Hardness; most heavily used type; significantly more aggressive than Type 1.
Selected applications: Fastest practical media for stripping aircraft, trucks, trailers, tractors, rail cars, vans, motor homes, marine vessels, cars, buses. Approved by U.S. Air Force for stripping air frames.
TYPE III: Melamine
4 MOH Hardness; most aggressive, fastest-acting type. Replaces glass beads and other harsh abrasives.
Selected applications: Mold cleaning; difficult-to-remove paints and primers from hard materials such as engine parts, turbine blades, molds.
TYPE V: Acrylic
3.2-3.5 MOH Hardness; longest lasting type.
Selected applications: For stripping aircraft structures, trucks, trailers, tractors, rail cars, vans, motor homes, marine vessels, cars, buses. Considerably “more forgiving” in hands of operator.
TYPE VI: Clear-Cut®
3 MOH Hardness
Selected applications: Outstandingly effective for paint stripping of Corvettes and other composites; also preserves surface profile of delicate metal parts.
The diversified PLASTI-GRIT family of dry stripping abrasives meets the requirements of MIL-P-85891—approved for use by the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and several armed services outside the US.
PACKAGING:
Plasti-Grit is packaged in 50lb. bags or boxes, as well as, in 250lb. drums.
